Why Dating an Alpha Male is Out of the Question

A man flexing his muscles. Dating an alpha male is no walk in the park. They are often too much for women to handle.

Are you an alpha male with the strength and swagger of a king? Well, why aren’t women swooning over you?

As it turns out, being a macho man isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

There are a lot of dichotomies about the alpha male. But a persistent one is about how they attract women left and right. In reality, they are not as attractive as the internet paints them.

The alpha male title has earned a bad reputation in the female community. When women think of alpha males, images of how a man often asserts power and dominance over a woman pop into mind—anything to do with toxic masculinity—thus deterring women from even considering dating you.

But why do you think that is?

Here are some reasons why most women are not interested in dating an alpha male.

He Is Inflexible

According to the alpha male mindset, it’s his way or the highway.

Do you want a partner like that? No, right?

A successful relationship requires some degree of give-and-take as both partners find ways to compromise. But the opposite happens with an alpha male. There’s no room for discussion or collaboration; he always wants complete control over his girlfriend.

Everybody knows that a relationship is a partnership. But with an alpha male, he doesn’t seem to see his girlfriend as a partner. Instead, he sees her as a subordinate—always beneath him.

Contrary to popular belief, women don’t want a dominant man but someone flexible and ready to compromise.

This doesn’t mean she always has to be your number-one priority. However, take her feelings and preferences into consideration when making decisions.

Even if your mind's made up, including her in the process shows you care about her opinions.

He Is Immature

An alpha male is always right. He won’t apologize, even when proven wrong. He engages in numerous behaviors that can make any woman cringe. He also believes he is high-value because he makes tons of money and does other things he thinks women want.

Women see this and know that dating an alpha male is comparable to dating a man-child. He is not mature enough to be around and maintain a relationship, which is the opposite of what a woman wants in a partner.

So, be in tune with your surroundings and yourself. Become a man ready to be the foundation of the relationship and eager to grow with your partner.

He Can Be Insufferable

So, you’re confident; that’s great.

It’s no secret that women love men with confidence. It is a trait often cited as one of the most attractive qualities in a person. However, an alpha male tends to mistake cockiness and arrogance for confidence.

He tries too hard to show off or brag about his accomplishments. He also acts loud and obnoxious to attract attention to himself or steer the conversation throughout the entire interaction. Often, it reaches the point where he states that he’s better than everyone in the room.

Not only does this fail to impress women, but it also deters them from dating an alpha male.

Sure, you have the confidence, but there’s a fine line between it and arrogance. And being an alpha male borders on arrogance. Perhaps try to tone it down so women will flock your way.

He Is a Misogynist

An alpha male doesn’t see a woman as an autonomous human being but as a property.

He objectifies women, criticizing their physical features and viewing them as things whose sole job is to please men.

Moreover, he unknowingly treats women differently from men because he has firm gender role ideals.

An alpha male has an outdated, sexist view about the roles of women in society and the workforce. He might even be uncomfortable with a woman’s success. Thus, his belief that men should be superior to women dissuades most women from dating him.

Luckily, it’s possible to shift perspective and move away from harmful, misogynistic thoughts that are ruining your chances with women. How?

Start by crediting your female colleagues for their ideas and hard work. This can go a long way toward shifting the narrative.

Being an Alpha Male is Killing Your Dating Vibe

When women speak of “alpha male,” unattractive traits such as assertiveness and arrogance all come to mind.

But women want a man who’s mature, gentlemanly, emotionally available, and humorous—down-to-earth qualities that build a good relationship.

If you want to sweep a woman off her feet, change your habits and be the man any woman would want.
