Not long ago, rumors have spread about the island province of Cebu being home to some of the most beautiful Filipino women. Being one of the most ideal places to meet women in, the world certainly took notice.
Today, however, this tropical paradise at the center of the Philippine archipelago is drawing tourists’ attention yet again. While the Queen City of the South is known for its pristine white sand beaches and beautiful women, Cebu has more up its sleeves. Not many people know that the mountains of Cebu houses some of the country’s most stunning and enchanting waterfalls.
Here’s a list of our top five:
Found along the boundary of Badian and Alegria towns in southern Cebu, Kawasan can be considered the most famous falls on the island. Kawasan has three levels of waterfalls with the first being the tallest. The second and third falls you have to trek upwards, which only takes about 15 minutes. Aside from the pristine blue waters, some of the fun activities you can try include the 50 ft. drop, rafting, and canyoneering.
This is also where a lot of local tourists come during summer season making it a perfect place to meet a beautiful Cebuana.
Kawasan is three hours away from Cebu City. To get there, board a bus to Badian in Cebu City South Bus Terminal. The journey to the falls would probably take you three hours (depending on the traffic situation).
If you are looking for a less crowded place, then this is perfect for you. Although Inambakan only has one waterfall, the height is 100 ft—perfect for any adventure junkie. Or if you are content with just a simple swim, then the water is just right. Visitors are also recommended to explore behind the falls where you can find stalactites and other stunning rock formations.
Inambakan is found in Ginatilan (approximately 30 minutes away from Kawasan and four hours from Cebu City). You can get there by boarding a bus headed to Ginatilan.
As picturesque as this waterfall is, it can be quite tricky to traverse. The trail leading up to Dao is littered with clear streams and rivers. Fortunately, the locals have made some of the trails easier by attaching rails and even stairs. On a scale of one to ten, getting to Dao would probably be five or six. But once you arrive, you do get a stunning view of a 40 to 50 ft waterfall on top of a startlingly blue lake.
Dao is located in Samboan, a municipality right next to Santander. From the city, it’ll probably take you four hours to get there by bus.
Dao is not the only waterfall located in Samboan. Here, you can also find Binalayan, which is also one of the tallest falls in the province. Getting to Binalayan is not as challenging as Dao. However, the trail is probably one of the most scenic. You’ll have to cross three rivers, a wide stream with a swing and a bench, and another set of waterfalls (aptly named by the locals as Adidas because the falls resembles the three stripes from the brand’s logo).
Last, but not the least, is Aguinid Falls, which is also found in Samboan (it’s probably safe to call the municipality as the waterfall capital of Cebu). It is probably the second most popular waterfall after Kawasan. Considering Aguinid has five levels of falls (the highest of which features an impressive limestone rock), it’s not that big of a surprise why this waterfall is so popular.
If you are headed to Cebu in the summer, then take a dip in any of these falls. The experience might just lead you to find love in the province. Perhaps, just like taking that plunge in the waterfalls, maybe the secret to finding love is just taking that leap of fate as well.
